A week ago Sarfaraz Khan had to hear the unfortunate news of his brother’s car accident in UP. Although Musheer and his father are safe and on their way to recovery, Sarfaraz put all this behind to come up with one of his all-time best knocks.

Sarfaraz & Mumbai’s dominance!

Sarfaraz’s sensational double century propelled Mumbai to a commanding position on Day 2 of the Irani Cup against Rest of India. The 26-year-old, coupled with superb contributions from Ajinkya Rahane and other Mumbai batters, has put the Ranji Trophy winners firmly in control of the match. Sarfaraz, who was dropped by Prasidh Krishna in the 90s, made the most of the second chance, going on to score a magnificent 221 runs (still unbeaten). His innings was a masterclass of strokeplay, as he effortlessly dispatched bowlers to all parts of the ground. With this double ton, Sarfaraz became the first-ever Mumbai batter to achieve the feat in an Irani Cup match.

Earlier in the day, Rahane missed out on a well-deserved century, falling just short of the milestone. However, his solid knock of 97 runs laid a strong foundation for Mumbai’s innings. Kotian and Shardul Thakur also made valuable contributions, ensuring that Mumbai made the most of the batting-friendly conditions.
